Basic Ham and Potato Soup (Chowder)

Basic Ham and Potato Soup or some may call it Chowder

5-6 medium to large potatoes peeled and cubed
2 cups of chopped ham ( I used Jeannie-O Turkey Ham)
1/2 cup of chopped onions
3/4 stick of butter
2 cups of chicken broth
1 cup of water
3 TB of Flour
salt, pepper, powder, parsley flakes to liking
Cheddar Cheese shred for garnish

Saute butter and onion until ready
Add flour
add potatoes, broth, water, ham and seasonings

Stir and bring to a boil and then turn down to medium heat for about 5 minutes. Stir and keep an eye on it so it will not scorch. Then turn on low. Cook for about 25 to 30 Minutes stirring occasionally.
Cook until potatoes are soft and tender. Top with cheese.

Share what your favorite soup is!!!  I do love this soup/chowder mentioned but my favorite soup is Broccoli and Cheddar Soup.

Blessings,
Chrissy

  1. I love Chicken Tortilla soup. I do love a good potato soup, too, but don't eat it much because of my eating plan.
