Keeping Home Budget Update

12 comments:

  1. That is great about paying off debt. That is my goal for this year.I don't like to work outside my home but I have been helping my friend clean libraries. And I can take my children with me so it is nice. That money will go to pay it off plus what we put toward from my husband's check. We had expences this month cause my oldest daughter got married. Life is changing for me and i want to cherish my time with my children. So getting out of debt is important to me. I blogged for 10 years then decided to stop for a while. I hope u continue but I understand if u don't. Its hard to decide what to do.

    1. Chele,
It is so good to hear from you!!! How best about cleaning libraries. Works great when you can take kids. I am in the same boat. My kids are getting older. I have one graduating this year.

  2. I’m really glad to get an update from you. What about the tax refund? Do you usually get one? What are your plans for it if so?
I’m debating about the blog as well. Being a bride to be and preparing for stepparent adoption has me only wanting to blog about those things. But my fiancĂ©e has privacy concerns regarding the kids, and being second marriage for both of us, we are getting both congratulatory response and response reflecting peoples being against it.
Premarital counseling seems to only want to focus on budgeting, but we can’t really do a budget until we are more settled and more of the money he has from selling his businesses and home is gone. We can’t quit counseling until we have more of an idea of the budget, because in adoption proceedings, counseling is near mandatory. I sort of want to argue with the counselor and say marriage is more about the benjamins, but I feel uncomfortable doing so.

I’ve always felt called to devote my blog to children’s advocacy, and now more than ever, the city of Houston needs it because of our recent natural disaster. CPS is coming after foster parents, kin placements, and homes of biological parents who have worked hard to get kids back and penalizing them for their homes receiving damage. Our local Christian radio station teamed with an organization to sponsor 50 foster and kin families in danger of being disrupted due to their homes “no longer meeting minimum state standards” due to the hurricane. I *should blog about that*. But I don’t get updates from either KSBJ or the organization. So there’s my rant, thanks for listening if you’ve made it this far!!! Can’t wait to join you in the ranks of mom of three- hood

  3. I have been worried about your absence and thought maybe you were just trying to focus on a quiet Christ centered Christmas. I certainly understand money shortage problems. It was very hard for me while the kids wee growing up to stay home and not work. I had so much pressure from my inlaws and my church but I also had to make sure the lights were not turned off. So I found ways to work around the kids. I sewed, I cleaned offices late at night. I coached and did jobs where I could take the kids with me. But your kids are older so you would not have those problems. Good luck, but if you leave I will really, really, really, miss you.Really, really.....

  4. I was super happy when I saw a new post come up from you. I really hope that you keep at it, even if it is in the form of a vlog instead of a blog. I find you very encouraging, especially as you let us walk with you through debt reduction and budgeting. Christmas is a hard time to stick with a budget. When you started this I might have cringed a little as it was sooo close to the holidays. Yay you, for sticking to your budget and knocking a debt to the curb!
