Tips on Dealing with Winter Blues

I am not a medical professional. I am sharing simple tips that help with winter blues. There may be situations where medical intervention is needed. Please see your physician.

  1. These are some good suggestions. I've battled depression at times as well. It's one reason I usually pray for snow in the winter. It just makes things prettier and brighter. That helps me.
This year, I start radiation next week and have a round trip of around 40 miles each day for seven weeks. That will be a routine.

  2. Great video Chrissy! I find just getting outside and enjoying a walk and finding a place outside that is private where I can pray really works wonders in my hearts. There is just something about being outside in the Lord's creation that seems to bring our hearts closer to Him. Hugs to you dear friend :)

    1. I totally agree. There is nothing like a nature walk and quiet time with the Lord. Hugs.

  3. I’m the exact opposite- I get the summer blues. I’m such an anomaly that getting summer blues is called “reverse” seasonal affective depression.

The “mixed feelings” about Christians with depression- ugh. If you are human, you will go through the human experience no matter what faith you are. Depression is part of it. It does not mean you “aren’t a Christian”.

If you truly do feel like just laying around, here are some good links to listen to while doing so:

Native American music is also good for soothing. If you don’t have a prescription, nothing wrong with some occasional Benadryl to calm you down from a panic attack. I’ve had panic attacks since 2014.

  4. Getting a dog may help! Great reason to get out for a walk! Also, they love us regardless, and are always happy to see us when we get back home!
