Real Life-School, Cute Things, Braces, and Laundry

We are still trying to get into the flow of schooling. It has not been as easy as in the past. We have more subjects and they are a little more intense. Plus, we have more outside activities. We took a break last year from all outside activities other than skate day which is monthly and an occasional field trip. The field trips were very rare. We did this for several reasons. Budget, time, and health is some of the main reasons. Staying home really does help sticking to a schedule but the kids really missed a few activities. I only allow 1 per a semester and P.E. class held at a fitness center for homeschoolers.

Most days my kitchen looks like the above during our school period. We do not have a school room so we do it at the kitchen table. We clean up and put up as soon as our work is complete. We have a little cabinet we store our supplies in and then I use the bottom half of my hutch to store their school boxes of books they work in. It works just fine.

Reading is a must daily. My kids aren't big readers but I make them anyway.  They love to be read to but not to do it on their own.

Here are some of my favorite little things in my home. I got this sign from Kirkland's for my birthday. With a coupon it was $7.99. I love it. Can't wait to put a fall saying up.

I also picked up a cinnamon pumpkin candle from there for $5.00. I have burned it once and decided to wait until September to burn more of it.

Of course....there is always....ALWAYS....laundry!!

Thought I would share a little of our day.

Oh and we got up super early to get Hannah her braces.

After all this we also had art class. I went to the library, dropped dry cleaning off, and ran an errand. I will be honest I am going on about 6 hours of sleep in 2 days. I have been battling insomnia awful. Thankful for the strength the Lord is giving me.

Blessings my friends.

  1. Chrissy, you do have a busy day but everyone looks very happy :-)

  2. Sweet Fall is on the way! Your daughter looks cute with her braces.

  3. I suffer from insomnia, and it is the worst. I wish I could give you some advice in how to battle it, but I have none. Hang in there and take naps.

  4. Your busy but it is a good busy of home and family. Insomnia can be caused by hormone imbalance in women, this was my problem a few years ago. (I treated it naturally) Alto, there are many other things that could cause it. Go here to learn more and natural ways to beat it.

  5. Add me to the list of insomniacs. I have stretches of time days where I sleep fine and then stretches of this frustrating insomnia.
Your daughter is very pretty and looks even more like you.

Hope you get some good rest soon ❤️

    1. Oh I totally can relate!! I treasure those stretches of deep rest. I need it for the many stretched of no sleep. Thank you for complimenting Hannah.

  6. Love the peek at your days. Nothing better then finding joy in the ordinary!

I've been having some sleep issues myself. It is frustrating watching the clock move by midnight, one, and two o'clock. Ugh!

  7. Yup. Up reading blogs because I am not asleep. However, I was blessed with 2 nights where I slept 10 hours, each, for the first time in years. That was a few days ago, and so I'm still cruising along on all that sleep!

It looks like school is going well for you! I will be in a different season this year--only homeschooling 1 child, my niece, who only has 3 classes she needs to finish to be done with high school. She will come over 4 days a week, and we will crank those classes out, starting at the end of September. Hopefully, fun and easy.

    1. Hi Becky, Stop for stopping by. I know all too well about cruising blogs at night. Praise the Lord for those good nights of rest.

Praying you have a great year with your niece.
